Lesson Outline
Mercer enjoyed playing a game outdoors with a peer for the first half of the session. The two agreed on the rules of the game and compromised effectively when decisions had to be made or if they differed in rule-making. We discussed some issues of sportsmanlike conduct, such as conforming to established standards of rules and how to best deal with deviations of the norm if one disagrees in a way that is free from favoritism or self-interest. The inclement weather did not permit students to use the playground equipment for safety reasons, so we went indoors. For the latter part of the class in class, Mercer looked at some nature documentaries, most of which involved survival in the wilderness. He is very interested in topics in nature and will look for answers to his questions to satisfy his curiosity with evidence and facts researched on the internet.
