Evaluating Course of Study Programs
Lesson Outline
Wow!!! Absolutely amazing and special to spend time with Katya, Vlad and Yogi today as we caught up on life and tried to come up with a plan and course of study for Katya to pursue for college. Katya has learned that the New School and living in NYC is not for her. She thinks she would like to live at home and not on a campus. We evaluated programs at several schools and looked at courses of study from architecture, sociology, psychology to criminal justice. Katya is interested in a wide variety of possible professions - from dental assistant to skin care. It seems that FAU doesn't have the kind of programs that interest Katya, but Palm Beach State College may be a good place to start. They have a Linked In Learning Program. LinkedIn Learning links to its students, faculty and staff. You'll have access to over 16,000 courses from real-world experts and that's pretty exciting! LinkedIn Learning lets you learn at your own pace. You can select courses relevant to your areas of study and even pursue other passions. Once you're in, browse around! Take a course, learn something new and apply it in your day-to-day. I recommend that Katya take some time to peruse the website and its link for LinkedIn Learning: https://www.palmbeachstate.edu/LinkedInLearning/ to get some ideas about courses of study and areas of interest. Katya once thought that art or psychology would be of interest to her - but she doesn't currently feel this way. Perhaps taking a course or two through PBSC would lead to discovering new things about self and the world that will lead Katya to a fulfilling field of study. I'm happy to continue to work with Katya and help her to explore her options.
