We read the synopses of several all-time classic novels, Ayden did a bit of his own browsing for selections, and then we discussed the pro's/con's of reading each of them versus the other. Ultimately, Ayden decided that he would like to read To Kill A Mockingbird.
For the remainder of the year, Ayden will engage in higher level analysis of a classic literary novel. The discussion will be simulated to mimic a college-level discussion and comprehension questions will go a step further than retrieval of information. Instead, they will require Ayden to synthesize and evaluate each chapter - a level of response which will be the baseline at the college level.
