Cameron selected American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang for our unit 1 novel study. Next, we did a mini-lesson on creating compound sentences using semicolons, he also attempted to make compound sentences by rewording them. This gave me an opportunity to see his prior knowledge on using conjuctions (because, for, but, etc), which will be a part of tomorrow's mini-lesson.
