Life Science - Gardening Log and Pollinators
Lesson Outline
Today, Atticus and I finished up our pollinators unit. We reviewed the reproductive anatomy of a flower and discussed the purpose of pollination. We completed a creative project where he drew a picture of a bee pollinating a flower, which included labeling the reproductive anatomy of a flower. We then added sensory elements to our project by gluing "pollen" (cornmeal) to the stamens and bee body/feet, and gluing seeds (sunflower seeds) to the ovaries of the flowers. We then wrote two questions and answered them on sticky notes and stuck them to our project: What important things does pollination help create? What are some different kinds of pollinators?
We also logged our garden observations, and included measurements of our potato sprouts in our logbook.
