Today we focused on local geography and history of Jayden's soon-to-be-new home on Hutchinson Island. It is a long barrier island split into a northern and a southern half. In the south, it begins off the coast of Martin County, across from Stuart and extends through St. Lucie County into Indian River County. Graphing the location of her new address on a map, we observed that Jaydn will be moving to the northern 1/2 of the island, between St. Lucie and Vero Beach. The closest mainland bridge is in St. Lucie. This is helpful for Jaydn to visualize because she is not interested at this point in driving a car. Jaydn was excited to share photos of the new home and area in class today, as well.
