After reviewing Atticus' study guide answers and discussing chapter 5 plot developments, we addressed the concept of conscience. Atticus did well in identifying Claudia's actions which should have spurred a pang of remorse but did not. We discussed why Claudia claims she feels no remorse either for running away or for stealing coins from the fountain, as well as the theme of Claudia's maturation during the course of the novel.
