In today's class, Bella did an experiment where we measured the rate of carbon dioxide buildup from yeast cells that were undergoing fermentation. We took two flasks, filled them with yeast and sugar, and covered each flask with a balloon. One flask stayed at room temperature while the other was placed in a warm water bath. The diameter of the balloons was measured at regular intervals. This experiment ties in with what we learned about alcoholic fermentation.
