Lesson Outline
After briefly reviewing Atticus' chapter quiz from last session, we examined the crux of the novel:the importance of having the right to choose even at the cost of making a mistake. On the board, we separated the dystopian society's rationale for erasing choice i.e. its claimed benefits from the costs of living in a society where one can not even choose the color of one's clothes. Atticus further studied the text as a prelude to our discussion on the importance of the role of the Receiver of Memories in society. We addressed how as readers we might conceptualize how the memories of the prior Receiver were disbursed to society at large when the prior Receiver "disappeared" .
