Lesson Topic
Teddy Roosevelt's Impact on U.S. Politics & Gov't.
Lesson Outline
President Teddy Roosevelt's Square Deal included three goals: consumer regulations, preventing business corruption, and protecting the environment. He also broke up corrupt monopolies and became known as the trust buster. He also instituted regulatory bodies such as the FDA and the Department of Commerce and Labor. His foreign policy was focused on making the US a super power. To show off naval strength, Roosevelt sent a parade of warships to tour the world. He also created the Panama Canal and the Roosevelt Corollary, which kept Europe from interfering directly in Latin America.
