Number sense/Social greet/aLanguage
Lesson Outline
After eating his lunch, Santino went outside to the playground as there were activities that were planned for Halloween. He remained a passive participant but observed the activities from a distance. Santino was encouraged to react to social greets by responding in kind and maintaining eye contact. He then worked on a tracing activity. Physical prompts are as yet afforded Santino to improve his fine motor coordination and grasp when tracing. A squeeze ball is also used to help to strengthen Santino's grip. To improve his number sense, Santino worked on a 'Movie Time" graph tasking him with counting the snacks shown in the picture. I modeled the first one and Santino was then afforded just an initial prompt to assist him. He was given a crayon to write his answers. Santino counted the snacks using one-to-one number correspondence initially, but then counted on his own and understood expectations. He was afforded hand-over-hand prompts with which to write the first two numbers but wrote his name and the number 7 independently, given verbal prompts alone. Santino was allowed time with the I-pad for demonstrating good effort and compliance with directives. We ended the day out in the playground and enjoyed a spirited Halloween.

Lesson Comments
Kim brought Santino in 15 minutes late and (Zach) picked him up 15 minutes early - so I deducted 30 minutes from his usual scheduled time for minutes attended.
