Lesson Topic
Life Science - Cell Structure and Function
Lesson Outline
Today, we reviewed why a large surface area to volume ratio is critical for a cell's ability to absorb and transport enough nutrients into its interior. We read about the two energy-related organelles: chloroplasts and mitochondria. Atticus observed an illustration of a mitochondria and chloroplast, and he wrote a response in the workbook to the following questions: What do you notice about the two organelles to the left? What are their differences, and what are their similarities? Can you infer what their functions are? We then discussed and read about the nucleus. Atticus answered the following question in his workbook: Can you think of some analogies for the nucleus? Use the space below to make a drawing, diagram, or other illustration to help you understand the structure and function of the nucleus.
