Lesson Topic
A christmas Carol/Dickens
Lesson Outline
We explored the relationship between money and happiness in connection with the scenes the ghost of Christmas Present shares with Scrooge. Atticus did well noting how Dickens' descriptions of the poor in society portray the poor as financially poor but spiritually rich. We contrasted Scrooge's unhappy lonely life with the rich family life of the Cratchit family. Atticus enjoyed the descriptions of the Cratchit's Victorian Christmas meal. After reviewing and correcting Atticus' vocabulary homework, Atticus prepared another journal entry discussing Bob Cratchit's generosity of spirit toward his harsh employer,Scrooge.
