In preparation for upcoming tests, we today reviewed chapters 1-3 and took notes on an essay topic: "A Christmas Carol" - societal and individual redemption. " Atticus did very well in class discussion first identifying examples of the story's depiction of the need for society to reform the Poor Laws and the Debtor's Prison laws as a means of societal
redemption. Focusing on individual redemption, we next discussed how the three spirits bring about Scrooge's redemption. We located specific examples of Scrooge's comments that demonstrated his changing values as the story evolves. Last, we reviewed the symbols and plot line of the first 3 chapters in preparation for tomorrow's test. HW-STUDY for test/revise journal entries for pages 41-45.
