Lesson Outline
Today, Atticus and I began our next unit of study, Structure and Support. We explored the question, "Is muscle alive?" Atticus read four students' opinions about whether muscles are alive. He circled which student he agreed with and wrote a response explaining why he agreed with that student. He then observed a picture of a girl doing a handstand and brainstormed why she is able to do this. We then performed activities that involve voluntary and involuntary muscles, and Atticus recorded his ideas about whether or not the muscles involved required us to think in order to use them.
