For lesson 3 of our writing exercise , Atticus continued to draft a literary essay arguing that Dickens favored social justice and reform . Atticus does well with the concept and we spent time working on locating and summarizing specific textual examples to support the argument. From there, we addressed commentary or explaining how the example supports the claim. After we completed two paragraphs, I discussed our next book,"The Indian in Cupboard" and distributed biographical information about the author. We discussed how to prepare a summary of the biography using only the most relevant facts and employing connecting words such as :later, after, at the end of her life etc. HW- read handout and write one paragraph summary.
