Today, Atticus read about how digestion works. We read a passage discussing the types of digestion, the mouth, the esophagus, the stomach, the small intestine and the large intestine. We underlined, recorded in our science notebook, and illustrated the following vocabulary words: digestion, mechanical digestion, chemical digestion, esophagus, peristalsis and villi. We viewed a diagram illustrating the different organs of the digestive system and traced the movement of food through it.
