Lesson Topic
Remote Asynchronous Lesson Intro. to the Russian Revolution
Lesson Outline
Cameron was sent a recording with a brief review about the timeline of WWI (1914-1918). The U.S. mobilizes and sends troops into WWI in 1917. This was largely due to Russia's withdrawal from WWI due to the Russian Revolution of 1917. I explained that this was the first time the U.S. fought an overseas war in Europe and that it was a difficult decision for President Woodrow Wilson to make. We will discuss more about this decision in future classes. I sent Cameron some notes on the causes of the Russian Revolution in 1917. Understanding this major upheaval heightens one's understanding of U.S. involvement in WWI, the rise of communism and the Cold War.
