Lesson Outline
Today, we completed a lab activity exploring how our body receives information through touch. Atticus was blindfolded and with a marker I made a dot on the following places on his body: fingertip, back of hand, elbow, toes, top of foot, knee, back of neck and nose. Then, with a different colored marker and still blindfolded, Atticus tried to put a dot exactly where I had placed the original dot. With a ruler, he measured the distance between the two dots on each location. Then, he plotted the distances of the various locations on a graph. From the data, he inferred that certain places on our body are more sensitive to touch, and that's why he was more successful in accurately placing the dot on those locations, and not as successful in other places.
