Lesson Outline
We went over examples 1-4 in the textbook on simplifying rational expressions.
Factoring – We practiced factoring a trinomial in the form x2 + bx + c by finding two binomial factors whose product is equal to the trinomial. Then we practiced identifying and using patterns in the signs of the coefficients of the terms of a trinomial expression. Next we practiced factoring out the GCF and then factoring the quadratic equation. Then we eliminated the factors in the numerator and denominator that canceled out to simplify the algebraic expression.
