This morning we began with Morgan’s spelling test. She scored a 14/20
missing words including ubiquitous, relevancy, and irreconcilable. Next, we finished the notes on figurative language that we started yesterday. For each slide we discussed the topic and Morgan copied the information. The concepts we discussed today included imagery, symbolism, oxymoron, and allusion. Lastly, Morgan answered the comprehension and analysis questions for chapter 12 in The Hiding Place. This was a very involved chapter as the characters were moved from the prison in Holland to a quarantine center, then to a concentration camp, and sadly to their greatest fear, on to Germany. We then began reading chapter 13, which began to describe the excruciating trip and arrival at what was called an extermination camp. We discussed what we pictured for the events being described.
Morgan read assigned Bible reading in her textbook aloud.
We discussed the important ideas (e.g.; Paul wrote Galatians for the Gentiles as well as the Jews) His epistle was intended for all people who believe in Jesus Christ not just the Jewish people.
Also believers are redeemed and reunited with God due to the crucification of Christ on the cross.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with such nice girls, Morgan and Macy. it was a sheer joy to teach them Bible and History this semester!
This morning we began by reviewing the adverb work Morgan had completed on Tuesday. She had made a few errors with the adverbs, but her biggest challenge was not identifying the helping verbs in the sentences. Next, Morgan took her practice spelling test. She scored 12/20 and will write each missed word three times for homework as well as work through her www.spellingtraining.com practice. Our next activity focused on figurative language. Morgan copied the Google Slides for concepts such as simile, onomatopoeia, personification, and metaphor. We discussed each of the 7 types described as she copied the notes. Finally, we read most of the lengthy chapter 12 in The Hiding Place. We analyzed the differences between perspectives of the main character Corie and her sister. Additionally, we examined our feelings on their work day and the foreman’s treatment of the detainees when the officers are not present.
