"Challenging Truth: Identifying Credible Sources" activities continued... Cameron is assessing the credibility/reliability of this website: https://www.dhmo.org/environment.html. His preliminary assessment (yesterday) was that he believed the website to be credible. He will find out today that the website is fake by following a checklist to assess it's credibility. DHMO is just H2O (water) cleverly formatted to trick a reader into believing it is some harmful chemical polluting the Earth. We are using this as an opportunity to reflect on how easily we can be fooled by something online. We will also discuss what made him trust the information without looking more critically to begin with. We will consider how this widely applies to information on the internet/social media.
