Atticus previewed and read pages 3-22 of ‘The Book Thief.’ During reading, we stopped to define unknown vocabulary and question the narrator’s description of himself. Atticus identified the narrator on the second page, rather remarkable for a first read. Our comprehension conversation was led by his questions about the narrator’s point of view.
