We concentrated on the elements of characterization-direct and indirect and I distinguished characterization from discerning the function of a fable. Atticus then practiced writing characterizations of the Commandant and Bruno's teacher,Herr Litszt. We then discussed portions of the text wherein Bruno's thought process diverges from his father's anti-semitic orientation as Bruno perceives no difference between the Germans and their prisoners. Last, Atticus worked on a spelling and suffix exercise dealing with dropping the silent "e" and adding a vowel suffix.
