Lesson Outline
Continuing our literary glossary, we today addressed situational irony and mood. After reviewing the term dramatic irony, I defined situational irony. Atticus then located and discussed an example of situational irony from today's reading assignment and further explained why the situation was ironic. We also explored Bruno's blind ignorance as representative of societal tendencies to refuse to acknowledge unpleasant truths. After I defined mood , we studied a passage from the text ,identified the mood ,and underlined words that created the mood. Last, Atticus took a spelling quiz based on all three spelling rules we have been studying: the doubling rule, dropping the silent "e" and dropping the "y" before adding a suffix.
