After reviewing Atticus' homework, I noted numerous spelling errors. As such, we briefly discussed the use of prefixes such as "pre and dis" as an aid to spelling. Based on the homework, I further reviewed the proper use of " too, to , and two" as well as "their and there." We then read and discussed Martin Niemoller's famous quote "First they came for the socialists and I did not speak out etc." and applied the quote to the events in the novel. Last, Atticus completed an analogy exercise based on the novel's vocabulary . He did very well in analyzing the Niemoller quote and in understanding the concept of word analogies.
