Lesson Outline
Chris was eager for the virtual session to commence this morning as he logged on prior to the start of the session. Today's session was the first visit of the school year following the summer hiatus.
Chris rapidly initiated conversation with a strong focus. He was very much wanting to "discuss" his completed summer "You Tube" projects as well as his upcoming collaborations and productions. This afforded a wonderful opportunity to review and expand upon the familiar strategies that best support increased speaker-listener reciprocity, decreased speaker-speaker overlap, topic transition and use of cohesive cues and temporal links. Familiar supports and scaffolding cues were provided, allowing for increased conversational reciprocity, and use of expanded comments within the exchange. Chris was observed to utilize the familiar strategy of "question repetition" four times during instances of attentional shifting to assist in self redirection to topic. Topic transitions were characterized by rapid shifts, prompting a review of "topic starters" and "transition phrases." Subsequent topic revisions were noted with use of increased phrases supporting the shift. Additional review of current goals will continue through next session so as to establish a baseline of goals for the coming year. Strong session today.

Lesson Comments
Today's session was unexpectedly shortened by approximately 10 minutes as "break time" commenced at 10:20. Elise clarified that a rotational break time has been infused into the schedule, to best allow for minimal repeated class interruption.
Such a wonderful session today.
