Lesson Topic
The land as a resource
Lesson Outline
Today, we activated prior knowledge about valley communities. We reviewed the factors that have contributed to the success of farming in valley communities. Jack contributed to our discussion by summarizing the most important reasons people why people choose to live there. As we moved to Chapter 5, which described how resources and agriculture changed the way people lived and impacted communities, we defined agriculture, wrote and highlighted it on an index card, and added it to our word list. We also examined how agriculture changed the way people lived thousands of years ago by changing from a nomadic lifestyle to one that is sedentary, two words added to our word list. Examples were offered to consolidate gains.
