List and explain the divisions of the nervous system into the central nervous system which includes the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system which includes the spinal nerve and the cranial nerves. Fill in the anatomy activity sheet.
Separate the types of nerves into sensory nerves and motor nerves, with an explanation of each. Introduce an imaginary patient having a root canal, and how the sensory nerves can be blocked, leaving the motor nerves unaffected. Introduce the term neuron to define a nerve cell, and how the prefix neuro affects words associated with the nervous system.
