Lesson Outline
Chris was eager to initiate conversation this morning, as he "had a lot to share" after spending the weekend in New York for his birthday. Topic shifting was strong as Chris had varied topics that he was wanting to discuss which included a new found interest in playing hockey. Familiar scaffolding supports were provided to assist with use of topic transition phrases, cohesive ties and temporal links as conversation expanded. Conversational reciprocity was supported with familiar cues to facilitate increased cycles of exchange, response to comments, and decreased occurrences of speaker-speaker overlap. Chris was motivated and enthusiastic once again, and demonstrated strong self awareness, as he was observed to revise and repair conversational breakdown based on the natural cues inherent within the exchange.
