Kellan read about nonmetal solids and metals. He viewed particle models of each, identifying that the atoms in metals are closer together than nonmetal solids. He created notecards for metals and nonmetal solids with their properties: nonmetal solids - brittle and breakable, don't bend, dull (not shiny), don't conduct electricity; metals - bendable, shiny, conducts electricity.
