Occupational Therapy Treatment Session
Lesson Outline
Luke was seen in his room for a 45 minute occupational therapy treatment session. Focus of treatment was on improving his bilateral integration/hand usage, fine motor development, graphomotor skills, postural control and sensory processing/organization for improved general performance in various environments. Began treatment with putty hand strengthening activity. Continued with working on ZOR with Luke. I gave him "break" cards and taught him how these are used for when he needs a break. For example, the card is red for when he feels in the red zone and he would give it to his teacher to request a break. The card instructs the child how to take a break like getting a drink of water, taking a deep breath, or taking a walk. We also watched a video to demonstrate expected versus unexpected behaviors. Luke was very interested and focused during this task. He was able to properly label behaviors observed. He spoke with a peer about his behavior being expected versus unexpected. Lastly, we made a Christmas ornament. Good session.
