Lesson Outline
Richard was seen in his room for a 45 minute treatment session today. Focus of treatment was on improving fine motor skills (hand strength, grip strength, dexterity and manipulation), visual motor integration, ocular motor skills, and graphomotor skills/keyboarding as an alternate means to written communication. Began treatment session outside doing mat MRNI exercises to integrate retained primitive reflex (ATNR). continued to work at his desk on cursive handwriting. We are still working on the letter group called "Up and Around to Mikey's Hut" and today Richard was instructed on the lowercase "q" in script. He practiced writing "g" and wrote " q" and then practiced connecting and writing "qu". Writing "q" was difficult for Richard and he had to practice writing it large first with auditory cues to help him learn the movement to form the letter. In the end Richard was able to write it well.
