Occupational Therapy Treatment Session
Lesson Outline
Luke was seen in his room for a 45 minute occupational therapy treatment session. Focus of treatment was on improving his bilateral integration/hand usage, fine motor development, graphomotor skills, postural control and sensory processing/organization for improved general performance in various environments. Luke asked to play pickle ball outside at the start of our session today. We spent 10 minutes outside playing and he demonstrated good attention to task without frustration. We continued treatment in his room working in Zones of Regulation work while making a Christmas ornament. For each color fuzzy ball we glued on he would have to tell a time when he felt in that color zone. For example, when we glued a blue ball on he said "I was in the blue zone when I didn't feel good". He was able to say more than one correct emotion for the color fuzzy balls we used to make his ornament. We also talked about strategies to use when in the the yellow, blue and red zone. For example, six sided breathing, hot chocolate breathing, listening to music and knowing when to ask for a break. He really enjoys listening and humming along to music. This seems to calm him. Great session
