Lesson Topic
Understanding Percent Problems
Lesson Outline
We worked on converting percentages to fractions in simplest form. Then we practiced converting fractions and decimals to percentages. We practiced using the distributive property of multiplication which states that when a number is multiplied by the sum of two numbers, the first number can be distributed to both of those numbers and multiplied by each of them separately, then adding the two products together for the same result as multiplying the first number by the sum. Then we worked on writing a percent less than one and greater than 100 as a fraction and decimal. Then we completed word problems and survey results requiring the conversion of a decimal or fraction to a percent. Jonathan is becoming more proficient at converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages.
