Occupational Therapy Treatment Session
Lesson Outline
Richard was seen in his room for a 45-minute treatment session. His session focuses on improving his postural control, integration of retained reflexes, visual motor skills and integration, fine motor skills, dexterity, manipulation, ocular motor development and graphomotor development/keyboarding as an alternative means to written communication. Began session with ocular motor work via Ann Arbor tracking program and hanging ball game. Richard was able to track words inside a jumbled word paragraph and is showing steady progress with increased speed and improved accuracy. We continued playing a game in which a ball was hung in his room that he was required to poke it with his index finger back and forth to his OT. While poking back and forth he had to say the alphabet with each touch of the ball. The timing and sequence of the letters was slightly difficult for him but with more practice this should be easier to achieve. This brings the visual system and cognitive systems together in synergy as they both work together to be successful with this activity. Lastly, worked on cursive handwriting by reviewing and practicing previous learned letters. Good session.
