Today we continued instruction on writing the body paragraphs of a literary essay as well as instruction on composing a conclusion. I discussed how to connect the second body paragraph with the earlier body paragraph and provided a model sentence using a transition phrase as well as logic. After Ben composed his second body paragraph, we discussed how to craft a thought provoking conclusion that addresses thematic issues such as what qualities give a person "value." Ben then drafted a conclusion . After we completed our first draft, I began addressing editing and rewriting , our next step. I gave Ben some comments to digest and some spelling issues to address . This evening he will rewrite the first two paragraphs per my comments .
