Occupational Therapy Treatment Session
Lesson Outline
Luke seen in room for 45-minute treatment session. Focus of treatment on improving and strengthening his emotional intelligence/self-regulation, improved attention/participation in both preferred and non-preferred task, bilateral coordination, refinement of visual motor skills/graphomotor development, fine motor precision, and sensory processing. Talked to Luke about his new school trial and went over acceptable interactions in bigger classroom setting. We played a game "what would you do? -for example - "you want to ask you teacher something" do you raise your hand or blurt out your thoughts? If a classmate takes your pencil what do you do? If someone steps on your foot in line what would you do? For the most part Luke was able to understand the "appropriate" behavior for a traditional classroom setting. He needs to be reminded when things don't go how he likes with a peer to get a trusted adult to help instead of trying to handle it himself. Continued treatment with participating multiple step activity that had Luke follow multiple step directions. He required min to mod assist. Continued with maze worksheet to work on his fine motor control and precision. Lastly, participated in a "magic c" writing worksheet to help Luke with correcting his formation of the letter "o" which he tends to make in a clockwise direction versus counter clockwise. He makes all other of the "magic c" letters correctly. He continues to make steady gains this year and his regulation and participation has shown much improvement.
