Lesson Outline
The session commenced with Chris sharing that he had "a lot of stuff to talk about today." He presented with a rather melancholy demeanor as he proceeded to ask if he should share the good news first or the bad news first. He began to share the myriad of topics that he had on his mind. This afforded a wonderful opportunity to once more review aspects of mindfulness, perspective taking, presupposition and self awareness. Chris was quite pensive as reminders and strategies were shared. He subsequently posed thoughtful questions, and provided detailed comments. Allowance for speaker-listener reciprocity was strong today, demonstrated by an increase in appropriate pausing, decreased speaker-speaker overlap, and the expanded use of contingent question and comment within exchanges for the duration of the session. Topic transition was characterized by the use of familiar transition phrases, and increased use of cohesive ties and temporal links.
Review of the use of "filters" and the ability to navigate more complex social interactions was also highlighted this session. Strong session today.
