Learning How to Measure and Use Scissors Safely and Finishing Chalk Pastel Drawing
Lesson Outline
Before Libby finished her chalk pastel drawing, she wanted to make some clothes for her Labubu doll named Sesame. We practiced the following skills: 1) sketching a design in her sketchbook, 2) measuring Sesame's neck width and torso length with a ruler, 3) carrying scissors safely, and 4) cutting material. Libby learned about width and length and inches. We made Sesame a lovey apron trimmed in Ric Rac. Then Libby finished her large chalk pastel drawing. She used water and brushes to turn the pastels into paint and then added glue and glitter. I think Libby is ready to start painting on canvas. Her love of abstraction and use of color are very impressive!
