Lesson Topic
Cellular respiration
Lesson Outline
Question how heterotrophs obtain their energy. Lead into a discussion of cellular respiration which involves a decomposition of glucose to obtain energy. Stress how cellular respiration is not breathing. Discuss an overview of the process. Consider the formula for the oxidation of glucose and the steps in which it proceeds. Separate it into glycolysis and aerobic respiration, the Krebs cycle. Determine the glycolysis is the splitting of glucose and occurs in the cytoplasm of cells. It is initiated when a glucose molecule, utilized energy from ATP and "splits" into two 3 carbon units. .
