Today we spent 30 minutes discussing the following relevant topics: 1) government corruption and the importance of muckrakers, writers, and photographers to expose corruption and unsafe and unsanitary working and living conditions; 2) the spoils system; 3) Pendleton Act and Civil Service Commission/Civil Service Exams; 4) controlling big business and the Interstate Commerce Act; 5) political reforms: a) primary, b) initiative, c) referendum, and d) recall; 6) the 16th and 17th Amendments, and 7) the Sherman Antitrust Act. Then Cam had 15 minutes to work on his historical narrative.
