Lesson Outline
Patrick played "Sparkle Spelling" with his short a spelling words. He sat in his chair facing me, with his back to the words on his board. I'd announce a word, and we alternated spelling it one letter at a time, practicing beginning, middle, and end phonemic awareness. Whoever was last, would say "sparkle" and earn a point. Patrick earned a little notebook for winning, and used it to record his sight words from the first day of school until today in alphabetical order. He read and then re-read Playful Puppy before taking a comprehension quiz. He scored 5/5 questions correctly. He added his new sight words for today: little, let, be, and see.
