Lesson Outline
Patrick learned how to alphabetize and record a set of 11 words. Even though this was Patrick's first introduction to alphabetical order, he picked up the concept quickly so we moved to words containing the same first letter, requiring him to look to and compare the second letters of the set of words. As a challenge, he went as far as reading and comparing 5 letter words containing the first same 3 letters. (flat, flash stamp, smack, sand, etc.) He wasn't able to do this completely independently, but did very well with guidance. He completed his first spelling test on short a words. He mastered 8/10, but scored extra points on the challenge word and dictation sentence containing his sight words of the week. He earned a 90/A. The words he missed, both contained the same error. Adding additional sounds that you do not hear in the word when you say it.
