Maya and I alternated reading about The Statue of Liberty in her Social Studies book. She labeled the state and area of the state that she is found in. Maya drew a line on her map to show the distance and direction of this landmark to her own community. She watched a clip on line showing the progression of the monument being built, where she was temporarily stationed in Paris, before being taken apart and shipped piece by piece. She also went through a virtual tour of what it would be like to get to climb her steps today. She was able to understand the true size to her by seeing how long it took to get to the crown. Maya watched a video on BrainPop Jr. and took a comprehension quiz.
