Lesson Outline
Maya took a practice drill with her 4 times tables. She is doing great. There are a few facts that are still tricky for her like 8x4 and 7x4. In lesson 5-1, Maya started learning more about subtraction such as clue words like "how many more". She solved problems for practice by drawing pictures and writing number sentences and fact families. Maya continued her FF program. Please see next Saturday's report. The computer was having issues, so I don't think one of the games registered for the day. She played Polar Planet, Cosmic Reader, and Jumper Gym. In Fast ForWord Maya began completed a sentence by sentence activity. She listened to me read a short passage about a wasp-eating lizard. Her job now is to visualize and verbalize a sentence from parts to a whole, the word-parts creating a sentence-whole. This passage contained 3 sentences. Maya was asked to visualize and verbalize each sentence one at a time, using structure words for the first sentence only (in order to create more details). The lessons begin receptively to remove decoding as a possible interference and also to stimulate listening comprehension. Maya is skillful at using some of her new vocabulary words to help her create her picture and word summaries. Great work, Miss Maya!
