Maya successfully completed an assessment of Chapter 5: What Makes Our Community Diverse? We began Chapter 6: How Do People Improve Their Communities? We reviewed Rosa Parks as an introduction, and brainstormed how we can help others in our community. She learned several vocabulary words: segregation, boycott, equality, protesters, and she learned about the United States Supreme Court. Together, we read an age appropriate leveled reader book about Ruby Bridges and discussed her life, and looked at her website.
