Lesson Topic
Inferring and "Ouch" Words
Lesson Outline
Today I introduced the concept of making inferences to Patrick. We discussed how inferring is using clues to determine outcomes correctly. We practiced with pictures and then short stories. Patrick did wonderfully. We highlighted the clue words and the clues in illustrations we used to determine the correct answer. We then played 2 rounds of Guess Who to practice using clues to determine an outcome. He really enjoyed the game! Next, Patrick read level D Frog is Hungry. He worked very hard at decoding unfamiliar words. He really seemed to enjoy the book. As he read he asked and then answered questions and made and confirmed predictions. We also identified the "ouch" words from the story and then completed a word ladder with -ow. He was very motivated and eager to learn today:)
