Lesson Outline
I arrived 19 minutes late due to fender bender at daughter's school, so we only had 40 minutes of class. We jumped right in with the book and Sophie assured me that she does not want to order the book on tape/CD. She likes the book enough to want to read it and put in the effort (which is monumental given her dyslexia). What a joy to know that she WANTS to read. We identified the protagonist, potential antagonists. WE talked about the plot so far and possible foreshadowing. We clarified a few hazy points (the "Black Virgin Mary") for example. We located place names on a US road map.

Keep reading, up to page 40 if possible.

I arrived 19 minutes late due to fender bender at daughter's school, so we only had 40 minutes of class. The great news is that Sophie had read the minimum amount required and then some. She used her 19 minutes of unplanned freedom to continue reading. She loves the book and I am thrilled.
