Patrick and I played a tic-tac-toe like word game with words from his repeated readings. Patrick seemed to enjoy the game. He struggled a little with rhyming, but did wonderful reading and spelling familiar words correctly! Patrick set a goal to read his passage with 1 error or less. Patrick met and surpassed his repeated reading goal in just 2 readings!

Patrick was motivated, determined and successful in reading today! However, I was surprised by his inability to rhyme familiar words. He was focused on initial sounds rather than endings even after several examples were modeled with familiar word families.
